Las Vegas entertainer Wayne Newton, ’80s TV icon Mr. T and other celebrities will join First Lady Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton at Nancy Reagan’s private funeral Friday at theRonald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

Swain, a business administration and economics major from Columbus, Ohio, said later that a lot of the students came to the service to learn more about Nancy Reagan and the impact she had and to show their respect.

Flowers lined the entrance to the Simi Valley compound on Wednesday morning, before the arrival of Reagan’s motorcade.

The procession from Santa Monica passed beneath a large American flag on a stretch of normally congested highway and then turned onto the Ronald Reagan Freeway where firefighters in dress blues saluted from atop fire trucks parked on overpasses and other observers held their hands over their hearts. Former first lady Nancy Reagan, whose funeral service scheduled for Friday, March 11, 2016, was planned down to the smallest details by the former first lady herself. The 80-year-old Dillard says he considers Ronald Reagan to be the greatest president of his lifetime.

The groups in the room with Mrs. Reagan at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library were kept deliberately small, and people said they had no sense of being rushed or hustled through as they stood before the casket.

Dillard’s daughter Bobbie Eldridge said she admired how the first lady “stood by her man, the great and attractive love that they had and how she became his caretaker” in old age.

“She appreciated how important Eureka College was to Ronnie so she honored that importance”, Eureka College President J. David Arnold said after the service.

Ronald Reagan, the 40th U.S. president, suffered from Alzheimer’s disease after leaving office and went into a long decline, cared for by his wife until his death in 2004.

Nancy Reagan died Sunday at her Los Angeles home.

“May angels surround her and saints release her to Jesus”, said Kenworthy in a short eulogy. The final one was the former first lady’s spokeswoman, Joanne Drake, who fought back tears.

After the private service, House Speaker Paul Ryan paid his respects, bowing his head in prayer aside the casket and making the sign of the cross.

Nancy Reagan’s daughter, Patti Davis, has arrived for a brief service at a Santa Monica, California, mortuary before a motorcade takes her mother’s casket to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley.

The public will be allowed to view the casket between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. local time on Thursday.
