The Center for Loss and Life Transition announces the completion of a successful session for bereavement caregivers to learn to become effective grief educators: July 20-23, 2020 in Fort Collins, CO.

Entitled “Becoming an Effective Grief Educator” the four-day training, facilitated by educator Dr. Alan Wolfelt, had attendees from across the United States. “Hearing and seeing speaking and education techniques from Dr. Wolfelt was so enlightening, giving all of us the confidence and skill set to take these important messages to our communities,” noted one participant. “Learning from Dr. Wolfelt was awesome and learning from the other attendees created a heightened and memorable personal and professional development week.”

Whether the participant was interested in training others in their organization, speaking publicly in their community, or just having a wish to feel more confident in passing along information to clients, colleagues, or friends, this workshop inspired them and prepared them to be effective grief advocates.

Using the “Ten Touchstones” of his bestselling book Understanding Your Grief as a framework, Dr. Wolfelt stepped participants though messaging and methods for educating others about the basics of grief, mourning, and integrating loss into life. Dr. Wolfelt also shared practical insider tips on topics such as event formats, engaging audiences, creating teaching objectives, building relationships with potential sponsors, and more.
