Location may not be everything, but it will be a major draw as industry professionals gather in New York City for the Cremation Association of North America’s (CANA’s) 99th Annual Cremation Innovation Convention. The CANA Convention will be held August 16-18 at the Grand Hyatt New York. With a wide range of valuable networking and educational opportunities, the event will feature business-building sessions as well as practical information on best practices in cremation. Attendees will have the opportunity to catch a Mets vs. Marlins baseball game at Citi Field and enjoy the history and architecture on display as they tour The Woodlawn Cemetery. CANA will also offer a pre-convention Crematory Operations Certification Program™ (COCP™) on August 16.

While we are still tweaking our programming, the program will offer an operational overview of the Charles C. Carson Center, US Port Mortuary, Dover, Delaware; the Personal Effects Depot, and the Fisher House were families await the return of their loved ones on their final journey home and the dignified transfer. We will also visit Arlington National Cemetery where there will be a formal wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, as well as other special educational opportunities; a tour of our Nation’s Capitol with a focus on our national treasures and monuments honoring our servicemen and women. Saturday morning, participants will help to place in excess of 250,000 wreaths on the graves of our fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. In the afternoon, several other optional events are in the planning stages. Saturday night will find everyone at Constitution Hall for the United States Navy Band’s Holiday tribute.
