Family-friendly activities, a flyover, patriotic music, historic artifact displays, Dunkin’ Donuts, and more bring all ages together for Veterans Day at Forest Lawn

HOLLYWOOD, CA—In a patriotic celebration for all ages, Forest Lawn will honor veterans with their 60th annual Veterans Day Celebration at Forest Lawn—Hollywood Hills. The free, family-friendly event invites guests to honor the steadfast commitment of United States military members with a flyover, patriotic music, a rifle salute, an invocation, a color guard, a wreath laying, souvenir giveaways, and more. Beginning at 10:00 AM, this year’s family-focused event also features historic artifact displays by Marching Thru History Exposition, arts & crafts, balloon art, face painting, fruit bars, and Dunkin’ Donuts coffee and donuts.

Forest Lawn’s Veterans Cay celebration begins at sunrise on Monday, November 11, 2019, when Boy Scout Pack and Webelos Den #435 will place flags throughout the memorial park that will wave in honor of veterans throughout the day. While the Veterans Day ceremony, held at the Hall of Liberty Courtyard, begins at 11:00 AM and runs through 12:00 PM, the family-friendly features of Forest Lawn’s celebration run from 10:00 AM–1:00 PM and invite guests to enjoy fun, educational, and inspiring activities.

Program highlights include:

  • Music performances by Band of the California Battalion in Civil War uniforms
  • Keynote speech by Navy veteran, actress, and host Jennifer Marshall
  • Invocation and benediction by Monsignor Frank Hicks of St. Basil’s Catholic Church
  • Rifle salute by LAPD Honor Guard
  • Interactive historic military artifact display by Marching Thru History Exposition
  • Family-friendly activities including arts & crafts, balloon art distributed by patriotic characters, face painting, Dunkin’ Donuts and fruit bar refreshments

Forest Lawn’s Veterans Day celebration will take place on Monday, November 11, 2019, at Forest Lawn—Hollywood Hills in the Hall of Liberty Courtyard, located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068. Family-friendly activities and historic artifact displays begin at 10:00 AM, and the ceremony program begins at 11:00 AM, with the event concluding at 1:00 PM. Guests are encouraged to arrive one hour prior to the start time of Forest Lawn’s Veterans Day program to allow ample time to find parking and enjoy family-friendly activities and a walk through the grounds before the day’s events begin.
